The Don - Big B or SRK?
In the year 1978 the writer duo Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan thrilled the indian cinema with their new story of a underworld don, this time they again succeed in delivering a new story to the movie fans. The famous director Chandra Barot take the responsibility of making thismovie - Don, under the production of Nariman Irani. The lovely music was composed by famous and talented music director duo Anandji - Kalyanji.
From the movie ’Don’:
According to the story don is a cool dashing impressive young man but a crule person in the story, the lead actor has played double role in the movie ’Don’. The first one was the real don who die in a police encounter and another one was an innocent guy who was compelled to take place of the real don in the movie. There is one gorgeous and killing beauty Roma also in the movie who has the only motto in her life is to take revenge of her brother’s death who was murdered by the real don. An
important character of Jasjit also in the story who has his own personal problems with don. Also DSP D’Silva is an important character in the movie.
Real story of ’Don’:
The story revolves around a lead character - don, who is a typical underworld don free from all bounds of relations and life. He is such a adominating character that he can do anything for his personal sake. He is a leader of his gang with many people, some are loyal to him and some are jealous of his position but he is doing well in his professionand subsequentely he had some enemies as well due to some misdoings in his life.
As the first twist in the story one police officer kill the don in anencounter but due to worry that after the death of don some otherperson will become don and sit on his seat and the gang will continueits illegal business without any much effect. And after guessing thatanother don will again become a head ache for the society, the copdecided to put a person of his faith in the gang replacing the real donwithout telling anybody, not even to his own police department. Bychance he got one more Amitabh Bachhcan, his name is vijay and he is aninnocent person with minimum requirements in his life, he hasresponsibility if two kids and after the promise good care of the kidsby the police officer he agrre to do job for police.
After some intial training the new Amitabh got succeed in replacing thereal don but he had to act as he lost his memmory due to some injurieswhich he soon recaptured and become the complete don. He use to telleach and every step and doings of the gang to the police officer but asan another twist in the movie the police officer lost his life in anaccident and now the new don is in trouble of his identity as well asthe murder of the police officer is also blamed on the don. He don’twish to
continue as a don and moreover he cant goto the police coz no otherperson known to all this idea and nobody will believe about hisoriginal identity.
Then it happned in the story that his gang comes to know about his realidentity and now he became a culprit from all the ways and he has tosave his life both from the police and the gang. He has some supportinghands of Roma and Jasjit who are victims of some misdoings of the realdon. And like most of the bollywood movies the movie ’Don’ also endswith happy ending with the demolition of the don’s gang and happymeeting of the two kids with their father jasjit.
About the original starcast:
Millelium Superstar Big B - Amitabh Bacchan appeared on silver screenas Don in the golden era of indian cinema. Zeemat Aman was the gorgeouskiller beauty in the role of Roma and Pran has played the role ofJasjit. The character of the police officer, DSP D’Silva was played byfamous character artist Iftekhar who is known to do similar kind ofroles in the bollywood movies. Some more characters of the movie areInterpol Officer R.K. Malik (Om Shivpuri), Inspector S. Verma (SatyenKapoo) and Kamini (Helen).
Something about the new Don:
The talented director of the present scenario Farhan Akhtar, the son ofJaved Akhtar has taken the responsibility of remaking the old blockbuster super hit movie - DON with Ritesh Sidhwani as producer of themovie. The music is composed by the famous music director trio -Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. SRK, the king khan or Shahrukh Khan isplaying the famous role of don in the remake of the movie, firstcharacter is of the underworld don and the second character of Rahul.Priyanka Chopra has taken charge of playing the role of Roma, ArjunRampal is new Jasjit and the important character of DSP D’Silva isplayed by the talented actor Om Puri, the gorgeous Kareena is newKamini, Ishaa Koppikar - Anita, Boman Irani a Interpol Officer R.K.Malik. Actor Chunky Pandey will be in special appearance in the movie.
Now lets compare the two dons...
Lets start with the famous quote - its not only difficult to capture the Don, its also impossible...
I am also cent percent agreed with this quote and therefore given thetitle to the review with this quote. It is not possible to eventouch the heights of the original Don. Though Farhan Akhtar and team isdoing their best in every respect but the real don has its ownimportance and magic. It is very tough for the new team to get the sameresponse from the movie lovers. Big B has a great list of his movie fans and the SRK has some other kind of fans and now the public has todecide between the two stars, who is best between them. But remember always - Old is Gold...
And lastly just for the information, one more movie with the same titleis under production in dutch language in Netherland. The role of don inthe movie being played by Clemens Levert under the direction of Arend Steenbergen.
