DON -- Duniya Me... Logon Ne... Dil Apne... Fir Thame... Aaya Hoon Lekar Main Fir Kitne Hungame...
Dons back! And with a Bang of course!! Comparisons were inevitable but this album has lived up to the expectations... And sometimes even beyond them!! And truly speaking me, personally, would really hate to go in for any sort of comparison directly. This is a new age movie and has succeeded in filling up its own space with its own special touch. Trying to catch the essence of this album as a stand alone will be a more sane idea than to waste time comparing it to the previous masterpiece.
The new Dons sporting a very different look. In a movie where probably attitude is going to speak volumes, SRKs emitting raw, arrogant confidence! The movies extremely stylish and theres where the music actually scores. With every bit of the backdrop, every bit of the action and suspense expected the lilting tunes gel perfectly. Be it the background score or be it the Title Track, SEL have scored winners all the way. They have belted out a strange concoction of the expected and the unexpected -- be ready to bask yourself in all the thrill and mystery oozing out of this fully loaded album!!
Don Theme: The tunes just fantabulous... Reaches a different height towards the end, gives you that on-the-edge feeling and gradually subsides leaving you asking for more!!
Don Revisited: By the Medieval Punditz. It commences on a crackling note and the pace is amazing. This one’s a perfect grooving track with SRKs haunting voice looming large in the background – “Don”, “Don” while the “Main Hoon Don” tune is present throughout. What adds to the excellent ambience are the two best dialogues (in SRKs voice), "Don Ka Intezar To Gyarah Mulkon Ki Police Kar Rahi Hai, Lekin Ek Baat Samajh Lo, Don ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahi, Namumkin Hai…" (From the old Don) and "Don Ke Dushman Ki Sabse Badi Galti… Ke Woh Don Ka Dushman Hai" (From the new Don).
Main Hoon Don: Shaan delivers a scintillating performance in this fantastically orchestrated number, adding to Javed Akhtars superb situational https://lyrics. The perfection of Shaans singing does absolute justice to the necessary attitude required by Shah Rukh Khans hardcore Don. Its a new track in totality. The only similarity is the three words "Main Hoon Don".
Main Hoon Don - Funcinternational Mix: The title track tune comes alive in keeping with the faster pace aided perfectly by the heavy bass guitar. Shaans voice reverberates in the background reminding us once more of daredevil Don. This tracks bound to set the dance floors and pubs on fire....
Yeh Mera Dil: Sunidhi begins on a flat note but pulls the song over to interesting heights, giving it the necessary zing and fuel. Overall, she does succeed in giving the song that intended feeling of "I will kill you, after I am done with the song..." Though comparisons with Asha Ji will definitely do the rounds, its better to accept this number as it is... And specially keeping in mind the fact that, no matter what, Sunidhi has performed perfectly in accordance with the ravishing Kareena.
Aaj Ki Raat: The hundred percent original SEL composition. One of the best songs of the album. It has a very enchanting tune which will haunt you from the word go... A mind boggling score -- Sonu, Alisha and Mahalaxmi are in rocking form as they bring to life Aaj Ki Raat with their tremendous performances. However, its Mahalakshmis mellifluous voice which adds that extra bit to the song. Hats off to the whole team.
Maurya Re: Shankar Mahadevan does a splendid job in this devotional composition. This song (it will probably be the introductory song of the duplicate Don in the movie) is sure to touch the hearts of all the devotees. Javed Akhtar deserves accolades for penning down such a special number. The mood is perfectly set and this song seems all ready to fill the audience with a true blue Indian feel.
Khaike Paan Banaraswala: The most awaited of em all I guess!! It won’t be a mistake to say that the original track had donned the colors of a legendary cult song. This time too, it doesnt stand a chance to disappoint just anyone!! Udit Narayan has rendered this song. He adds his own fine style of masti and dhamaal and churns out a mast tension relieving number. The twist in the tale, however, is SRK. Like a thorough bred Hindi rapper he shoots in with loads of energy and outdoes his "Josh" act!!
So overall.... Get ready to ROCK!! And well, seems to me that this CD deserves a place in your collection for sure......
