Farhan was making a remake ...so ..there were bound to be comparisons to a Old Hit by the same name and same plot. so he had everthing to lose ...and LOSE he did ...he has lost it with this funny remake.
This is not actually a "Tribute to the Old DON " as Farhan has been yelling all across in the media. This is a Tribute to a Superstar called SRK. Remember Farhan is also a Producer ..This movie is nothing but Easy way to capitalise on these 3 factors to make Fast n Easy Money and some publicity too :

Ready Plot which had to be given some shocking twists (the twists are the funniest I have ever seen...something like what Ek Ajnabee did with Man on Fire).
I am no one to hate Farhan for this Shrewd way of using what he had as afterall its his dad who co-wrote the original and its no harm if his son remakes "Money" on the same plot. It’s all Fair in Business.
But there is something I hate ...because after all I pay to watch Good Movie.
I for one dont go to watch a SRK as much as to watch a Good "Complete" Movie. But what did Farhan’s Company give me ??? - SRK /SRK and more SRK .... It would be unfair to say anything Good or Bad about SRK as he is beyond all this now and has become a SuperStar.
The problem is in his Single Mind approach to Give us an overdose of SRK , Farhan has killed all other Characters of Original DON.
Victim No. 1 : J.J. - Arjun Rampal playing Jasjit (JJ) has been under utilised. There is very little scope provided to him given his great ability in Action. SRK is no comparison to Arjun’s looks and agility but still is taken all Footage on action and is very very unconvincing.. (Even Priyanka Chopra was much better in Physical Action compared to SRK.) This is Bollywood for you. A sincere request to Arjun - Please stop doing these "Bit" Roles as you are much much better than what you are made out to be.
Victim No. 2 : DCP D’Silva : Honestly I used to find Iftikhar to be an average choice in the original DOn considering his phisique dnt suit a cop.. Now after watching Boman Irani , I feel Iftikhar is a Legend to have played his part with such aplomb inspite of not having a tough cop look and the physicality.
Victim No. 3 : Malik : Om Puri Wasted ...No more to say.
Victim No. 4 : THE MOVIE "DON" ..... In pursuit of Style the entire essence of the Story is mutiliated .... Just go and see it to know what I mean...
ONE SCENE I LIKED : The Scene where DON is being taken with other Gang Members in a Plane ... Great Stuff. Actually the Movie’s Energy is seen only in the last Half towards climax but with a Dissapointing and silly Climax.
Warning : Don’t Read ahead as the plot cud be partly revealed .... So Go and Enjoy the movie ... ;)
and ..finally ..what’s that ????? -------- If it was after all the Real "DON" and not Vijay on the Run ..then how did he do the " Khaike Paan" with Bhojpuri accent ...... Think about this !!!! (just one of many silly goof ups in the tweaked plot ...dont wanna say more )
