Dor - a fine movie

Nagesh Kukunoor has come of age. His hyderabad blues was a good work. Iqbal was excellent. But Dor steals your heart.

The cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee is stunning. You feel like visiting Himachal and Rajasthan after watching the landscapes in Dor.

Ayesha Takia is so innocent. Never expected her to fit into that character so well.

Gul Panag has done perfect justice to a confident girl of today.

Shreyas Talpade steals the show. The hall was roaring with laughfter once he entered the scene. Ripples of laughfter arose everytime his face came into the camera till the end of the film.

The film has touched very sensitive issues. The status of women in certain parts of the country. The rush to gulf and sacrifice of social life to earn petro dollars and pay off debts. Hate, love, sacrifice, cheating, greed, lust, jealousy, loss, innocence, friendship all weaved into the film and powerfully portrayed. As usual the pace is fast. Simple dresses. No elaborate song and dance sequences with pelvic thrusts and bust shaking.

The film also focuses our attention on the difference in the legal system in the gulf and India though tangentially. For those who have been in the gulf, like me, knows that so well.

Please see the movie to know the story. Do not want to spoil the fun.

Hats off to you Nagesh. Expecting more such creations.
