The word Dorabjee transports me to my "happy place".
As a child, I frequented this restaurant with my grand parents & parents. Once you reached Sharbatwala chowk, you could close your eyes and the aroma would lead you to the place.
Later I frequented this place with with friends and collegues. Then my wife became a die-hard fan; and then we took our children to Dorabjees. Now the children are grown up and go with their friends.
53 years of Dorabjees and I still cant get enough of it. Today my idea of a great day is to have a chilled kingfisher and boiled egg sandwich at Diamond on Main Street. Leave at 1.15 pm, take a short-cut walk accross the small lanes and be at Dorabjees at 1.25 pm for a plate of Biryani. Absolutely blissful.
Be warned. You reach there after 1.40 pm at lunch time, or after 8.40 for dinner time, and there is no guarantee that they will be Biryani left to serve.
