Karan Johar, this fool whenever he directs a movie by himself it generally comes out to be a dud !! Recent most example Kank. But when he gives the director’s seat to someone else, the movies come out watchable.. a la Kaal, Kal Ho Na Ho and now Dostana.
Dostana is not a movie which Deals with Homosexuality, it straightforwardly Makes FUN of it ... and how, u must watch dostana to know about it.
Sameer ( Ab Jr ) and Kunal ( John ) are 2 bachelors looking out for an accommodation. They end up and a lady’s(sushmita Mukherjee) place to know that she would only let it out to girls as her niece Neha ( Priyanka ) is already living there. Since the apartment was a good one in terms of locality and budget, Sam and Kunal decide to act gays to get the house. Thier plan works and they get the apartment and once they shift in they has to go through a series of funny incidents and the number of people who know they are gays goes on increasing. Slowly and steadily Neha-Sam-Kunal develope a friendship and as it would happen in any hindi movie, Sam and Kunal fall in love with Neha, but becuase they have pretended to be gays, they can’t do that.
Comes in Bobby deol and the movie changes, Priyanka initially hates him but slowly falls in love with him but Sam n Kunal do their best to get Neha out of the relation for thier benefit. The story goes on ... and one days Neha knows the truth and then and then the movie was a usual KJ affair ...
Dostana is full of funny scenes right from the beginning and they make you laugh like crazy after every 2 mins or so...

Performances:
Abhishek is the Man. He is easily the show stealer in the movie. He is so good that there looks to be no competition for him. Even when the others too have performed brilliantly. His comic timing is Just too good I found it to be as good as of Akshay Kumar’s. Abhi is back on track with this one and would soarly wish to see him in more comedies in future. Abhi was in my top 5 favs. He tumbled down but this performance will propel him back there ... 5/5
John is good .. he has improved in his timing a lot since Garam Masala. Thought he was overshadowed by Akki in GM and here he gets overshadowed by Abhi .... 3/5
Priyanka has again given a good performance after Fashion and this will also go down as one of the good performances of PC .. though there aren’t many. She has looked stunning and specially in that Desi Girl son Boman is utterly funny. His 10 mins are great and the character M was only for him ... 4/5
Kirron Kher and sushmita mukherjee are just too good ... 4/5
Bobby Deol is good too, dont know why people are criticising him but he does what he was given to do ... 3.5/5
Directotion : though the film has striking similarities with the 2007 film " I now pronouce you chuck and larry ", but still for a first time director Tarun does a good job and he will be one to watch out in future and hope he doesnt dissapoint like Nikhil Advani.
Music is brilliant : jaane Kyun, maa Da Laadla, Shut Up are great but Desi Girl is just too good.
Overall its a brilliant entertainer which I ll rate into 2 halves ...
