Well dot matrix and ink jet have different generations and dot metrix comes first so now a days dot matrix wont available either so you cant use it, just take a look at museum you will find there.
However ink jet is new generation and its good for sure no doubt, even laser printers takes place, so now a days you got low money, you good to go with ink jet.
ink jet just consuming too much ink, I got hp inkjet and thats good I filled ink with my self Lol.
