Once upon a time a director came and he made "Mohabbat", then he made "Dil", and came into limelight, then he continued his run with "Beta" and "Raja", then he entered into some comedy business with "Ishq", then he also made "Mann", and a super adult comedy "Masti", and then came ultra super comedy "Dhamaal", which was a real hit on all the floors. His name is Indra Kumar, and he is back with a sequel of it named "Double Dhamaal", which was obviously not better than the prequel, but worth a watch and total timepass.
This story continues further from where the part 1 ends - the famous and lovable 4 jokers are waiting for an accident to happen at the same roads where they met their luck and dying Prem Chopra. These 4 jokers are - Roy (Riteish Deshmukh), Baman (Ashish Choudhary), Adi (Arshad Warsi) and Manav (Javed Jafferey). They tried hard for their luck to get some money for survival, and then they find out that the Inspector Kabir (Sanjay Dutt) is now become a millionaire and is now enjoying his life as a businessman alongwith his wife Kamini (Mallika Sherawat) and his secretary Kiya (Kangana Ranaut). Now they have to take all his money, but Kabir has some other plans and he plays double game with all 4 of them twice i.e. Double Dhamaal. In between came some nice actors like Batanand (Satish Kaushik) and Mohsin Bhai (Zakir Hussain).
The best part of the movie is its being a real sequel unlike other sequels, and the part I hated much about Bheja Fry 2 is the thing I loved here, that is all the original characters-actors are maintained. If you got a chemistry with movies character then you should retain them, not sacrifice them just to get freshness in 2nd part, and you simple dont need to try hard. Wonderful script, with well-scattered laughs.Tushar Hiranandani did played his role well. All the cast did justice and they are superb matching exactly in a moving plot. Yes, I must say that part 1 is more of a situational comedy, where you can just put a prop and started doing comedy using that, and which was missed here, just 1 scene applied that thought. The best acting was obviously done by Arshad Warsi, he looked great alongwith our pyaara, bewakoof, Javed Jafferey. He is a real talented actor and good to see him again in movies. Their changed getups in 2nd half are good and I loved the sardar getup of Arshad Warsi alongwith whatever getup Javed Jafferey took. Satish Kaushik too look good with the same dialect of "Bhaigiri" style which he made famous in "Bade Miya Chhote Miya" as Sharafat Ali (I think I got the correct detail ). 1st half is mind-blowing and superb, but 2nd half dragged a bit, although they maintained a good pace with the story, but some more editing is required (Sanjay Sankla). This time its a mindless comedy not the intelligent one like the part 1 but the movie gave you a full paisa-wasool and timepass for 2 hrs 20 minutes. Dialogues written were good. Movie also have songs (4) scattered through the movie. part 1 has just 2 songs coming in 1st half itself. Movie started with "Chill Maro" which is having good tune but not like a forever-liked song, sung by Mika Singh. Then comes the best song of the lot "Chal Kudiye" sung by Anand Raj Anand, Mika, Outlawz and Riddhi, the tune was awesome, although said a copy of Daddy Yankees "somos di calle" song. Other songs include "Oye Oye" and beautiful item number "Jalebi Bai" performed by Mallika Sherawat. Music is given by Anand Raj Anand and lyrics was written by Anand Raj Anand and Mayur Puri. Best scenes of the movie are -
The bar looting scene - hilarious
Scaring the so-called business partners of Kabir by 4 jokers
Batabhais trial to enter into Sadhu business by giving pravachan
"Its Different" scene of Javed Jafferey and company
The exchange of dialogues and running away from Batabhai including "Chal Dhanno" scene (extremely hilarious)
Chimpanzee scene and 4 jokers trying to enter in Kabir, Kiya and Kaminis lives.
There are only few sequels who lived upto the mark of original. English movies sequels always worked (some case they failed like HP and POTC), but in Bollywood only sequel worked is Munnabhais which was not a real sequel, since the plot was totally different (although still 1st one was best). In terms of money some sequels worked like "Golmaal". Doubla Dhamaal stands good in such scenarios. Many sequels are yet to come like "Murder 2" etc, and as far as Wikipedia is considered, Indra Kumar too coming up with two more sequels "Total Dhamaal" and "Masti 2". Lets see. My take for this movie - 3.5/5.
