This is to review about Dr.Ahmed Ali of Dr. Mehta’s Nursing home, Chetput, Chennai 31. I call him a life saver. My husband’s brother’s son Prashant Gopinath (19 yrs, engg student then )was brought to him, from another leading hospital in Annanagar, almost as a gonner. He had had an accident in which he was run over by a maruti omni in May 2002. He was admitted to a leading hospital in Annanagar in which he had multiple surgeries on his hip. But after 20 days of ICU and breathing-machine, he had an infection in his intestines. About 4 other leading gastro specialists around Chennai had declared him a gonner. He had about 5 surgeries of cleaning his intestines.
At last he was transfered to Mehta nursing home in June 2002. Dr. Ahmed Ali after inspecting him found that there was a big bed sore on his buttoc ks which has eaten into his intestines, which have been totally ignored by the ICU in the previous hospital. The doctor called for fresh blood from among the boy’s close relatives. My husband gave his blood. The doctor prescribed a strong antibiotic injection which has just landed in the market and Prashant was saved. Within two days he was out of the breathing machine.
He was out of hospital within 15 days. Now Prashanth is working as an Engineer in a leading company in Coimbatore and will get married soon.
