I got my first docs 4 years ago (a green matt finish 1460) and although they’ve endured almost daily use, they’re NOT falling apart. Since then, I’ve become obsessed with buying docs, and I now have 3 pairs of sandals, 2 14-eye boots, and 10 8-eyes in varying colors and styles. They’re a great way to express individuality if you like to paint them (I have a pair under construction). I wish I could go to the UK where there MUST be an even larger selection.

I’m mad that their production line is going to China because I’m afraid that the company will lose sight of quality. Right now, I’m just trying to stock up on any of them in my size stamped ’’Made in England.’’

The only problem I have with them is that they’re incredibly difficult to break in. The first day that I wear them, I usually have to walk to school, and they take a beating from that. I come home with blisters and around the ankle (at the back), the skin is rubbed raw because the leather is so stiff. They take me about 2 weeks to a month to completely break in.

I’ve heard the complaint that they’re really heavy, and that’s true. I guess that I’ve just learned to adjust to them. The good thing is that when I go ice skating with my friends, I don’t complain about heavy skates!

I love how comfortable they are! I have wide-width feet and being a girl, it’s really hard to find comfortable shoes. I love how docs are unisex and fit my seemingly large feet.

The best part is that when El Nino hit and I had to walk in puddles all day, Docs kept my feet dry and didn’t damage the boots.
