I got my first docs 4 years ago (a green matt finish 1460) and although theyve endured almost daily use, theyre NOT falling apart. Since then, Ive become obsessed with buying docs, and I now have 3 pairs of sandals, 2 14-eye boots, and 10 8-eyes in varying colors and styles. Theyre a great way to express individuality if you like to paint them (I have a pair under construction). I wish I could go to the UK where there MUST be an even larger selection.
Im mad that their production line is going to China because Im afraid that the company will lose sight of quality. Right now, Im just trying to stock up on any of them in my size stamped Made in England.
The only problem I have with them is that theyre incredibly difficult to break in. The first day that I wear them, I usually have to walk to school, and they take a beating from that. I come home with blisters and around the ankle (at the back), the skin is rubbed raw because the leather is so stiff. They take me about 2 weeks to a month to completely break in.
Ive heard the complaint that theyre really heavy, and thats true. I guess that Ive just learned to adjust to them. The good thing is that when I go ice skating with my friends, I dont complain about heavy skates!
I love how comfortable they are! I have wide-width feet and being a girl, its really hard to find comfortable shoes. I love how docs are unisex and fit my seemingly large feet.
The best part is that when El Nino hit and I had to walk in puddles all day, Docs kept my feet dry and didnt damage the boots.
