The Doctor is In

Dr Pepper has been around since I can remember. I can recall having it around when I was a child. There used to be commercials (about 20 years ago)where they would show people drinking hot Dr Pepper in the winter. I haven’t personally tried it that way, however.

It is a soft drink with a different taste. I describe this as a cola with hint of prune. Now that may not sound too refreshing, but it is! People have debated over what actually gives Dr Pepper it’s unusual flavor, whatever it is....it tastes GREAT!

Dr Pepper got it’s start in Waco, Texas in 1885, thus making it the oldest major manufacturer of soft drink concentrates and syrups in the United States. You can’t go anywhere in the United States now without seeing Dr Pepper. Commercials with Garth Brooks, the Country Western singer, are played quite often.

INGREDIENTS: Carbonated water, High Fructose Corn Syrup and/or sugar, carmel color, phosphoric acid, artificial and natural flavors, sodium benzoate (preservative), caffeine.

NUTRITIONS FACTS: Serving size: 8 fl oz (240 mL) Servings Per Container: 2.5 (this is the 20 oz bottle) Calories per serving 100 (250 calories for the 20 oz bottle).

Total Fat 0 grams

Sodium 35 mg

After reading the ingredients and the nutrition facts, you can tell that this is NOT a nutritional drink. It would be all right to drink once in awhile, but soft drinks aren’t good for every day drinking. However, I will admit to drinking them often.

To cut the sugar down in my diet, I switched to Diet Dr Pepper, which has a good taste, too. Diet Vanilla Coke has become my favorite soft drink, but Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper are my next choices.

Dr Pepper has a website. Check it out! https://drpepper.com

Dr Pepper comes in several different size bottles. I have found it in the 2 liter bottle, 20 oz bottle, and the 12 ounce can.

So on a hot day try reaching for a cold Dr Pepper to quench your thirst!
