Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke.

Dragon Rider is amazing!!

A very fun, engaging story, well told (well translated from the original German edition) and captures the imagination of both the young and adult. It has everything , from a solid story and astounding language to very lovable and real characters. The story isn’t short, but it moves quickly and once you’re into it, you will keep the pages flipping without any signs of stopping.Perhaps, that justifies this book being the best seller when launched .

Cornelia Funke strays into lighter turf with ’’Dragon Rider’’.It’s not lightweight exactly, but it lacks some of the somberness of her past two books. It’s not vaguely dark like ’’Thief Lord, ’’ and it doesn’t have the overstrained seriousness of ’’Inkheart.’’ This book has been aimed at the age group of 9-12 years. There are some wacky elements in this book , like a RAT who is a excellent cartographer ( seriously, why would a mouse want to have a map of a mountain?) and mice flying around in toy planes ( this one is niece to the above mentioned map maker! ).The fold-out map is quite interesting too (the one made by the map maker).

The story revolves around Ben -a human, Firedrake-a dragon and Sorrel-a magical creature, who are in a quest to find the Rim of Heaven , a place where dragons can live in peace forever. It’s just classic dragon fantasy .

Overall, this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
