Overview
I recently discovered Dreamlife.com through Yahoo!, and now I don’t know what I’ve been doing without it. Dreamlife.com is a fantastic resource for expanding your own mind, organizing your life, realizing you potential, and soothing your spirit. This website offers a myriad of free self-improvement classes that you can take, as well as a few inexspensive paying courses, and has a personalized profile page to keep track of your progress and help you realize your self-set goals, whatever they may be, in all areas of your life. Registration for this site is absolutely free, the pages load quickly, and the entire atmosphere is pleasant and soothing. Below I have attempted to describe some of the benefits and course offerings for your edification.
Health and Fitness
Some of the course offerings in the Health and Fitness category include: Feel Better With Food; Healthy Eating For Life; Get Lean in 14 Weeks; Fitness For Absolute Beginners; Get Ready to Quit Smoking; and Stress Less Live More. Some of the courses that I myself am utilizing are:
Healthy Eating For Life--This is a free course designed to help you develop healthy eating habits that suit your own individual taste and needs. It is easy to follow, and is taught by popular cookbook author Lynn Fischer.
Get Ready to Quit Smoking--This is a free course that can help enable you to quit smoking. The program stresses the fact that you must be ready to quit before you can cut cigarettes out of your life successfully, with concrete plans to follow before you quit. This program is about personal empowerment, an aspect that is often overlooked in many popular smoking cessation programs.
Money and Finance Some of the course offerings in Money and Finance are Reach Your Financial Goals: Understand Your Money; Credit Rehab: A Step-By-Step Guide To Repairing Your Credi;, Get the Salary You Deserve; and Have Fun and Deduct it Too: Tax Tips for the Self Employed. I recommend: Reach Your Financial Goals: Understand Your Money--This course is taught by personal finance instructor Eric Simons. This course should be used to help you become financially responsible and successful. This course is free (which is good, if you are trying to mangage your money.)
Get the Salary You Deserve--This is a free class meant to teach you negotiation skills that you can use with your employer to help you achieve the salary potential that you believe you deserve. I highly recommend this for anyone that does not work for themselves.
Relationships and Family The course offerings in Relationships and Family include, but are not limited to, Stop the Fighting in Your Relationship; How to Plan Your Dream Wedding; Parenting Teenagers Well; and Raising an Achiever: A Parent’s Guide. Stop the Fighting In Your Relationship--Let’s face it, no relationship is perfect. There are disagreements in every marriage. This free course can help you learn to talk to your mate, instead of yelling, and can help you take back your marriage and reshape it into a more loving and nurturing bond. This course is taught by Dr. Brenda Shoshanna.
Raising an Achiever: A Parent’s Guide--This is free course offered to help parents who want there children to excel. It teaches you how to help, nurture, and motivate your children academically, and has an excellent support system of other like-minded parents. The class is taught by Dr. Ruth Peters.
Career and Business The Career and Business department is an extremely useful resource for those work and success oriented individuals. The courses include: Manage Work Stress: Be a Corporate Yogi; Target Your Dream Job; Ace Your Job Interview; Rebuild Your Resume; and Teamwork for Better Business. Rebuild Your Resume--This is a free course taught by resume expert Matt Hickey. Mr. Hickey teaches you the fundamentals of the good, the bad, and the ugly in resumes. A resume is usually the first impression you make to a potential employer, so check here to ensure that you put your best foot forward. Teamwork for a Better Business--This is a pay course, and they are currently offering it for $9.95 in US dollars. I recommend this course for small business owners. It instructs how collaborate and form allies for success. The course is taught by Paul and Sarah Edwards, self-employment experts.
Mind and Spirit
Mind and Spirit is one of my most favorite categories at Dreamlife.com, as it offers a plethora of easy to follow courses designed to help you live a happier, less stressful life. With choices such as Making Your Dreams Come True, With Marcia Weider; Manifest Your Vision: A Five Step Plan to Create Clarity and Focus in Your Life; The Ten Emotions of Power: Master Your Emotions, Master Your Destiny; Three Minute Therapy; How to Create Peace and Happiness the Buddhist Way; and The Principles of Yoga Living. Three Minute Therapy: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life--This free course is a real treat, as it is taught by Michael Edelstein, Ph.D, who is an international lecturer, author, clinical psychologist, and frequent guest on radio and television programs discussing cognitive behavior therapy. This course is intended to help you to master and overcome negative emotions. I highly recommend it to anyone that occasionally feels out of control of their life. How to Create Peace and Happiness the Buddhist Way--I recently completed this course, and I found it fascinating. This is not a religious course—rather it is a practical approach to the philosophy of Buddhism, with interesting background information, and plain speaking texts that, I feel, have truly helped me become more content with myself…and hopefully have made me a better person. This is not for everyone, but if you are open minded to new experiences, give it a try.
Creativity and Fun This is a category that most of us can find use for. It lives up to its title by offering Plot and Structure in the Writing of Fiction; Write a Novel in Three Weeks or Less; Secondhand Chic: Secondhand Shopping Made Easy, Catch Everyone’s Attention By Getting the Winning Voice, and more.
Plot and Structure in the Writing of Fiction--This is a fabulous free tutorial that completely dissect these two aspects of writing that can stump many a writer. Clear and concise, this guide is a must.
Overall I recommend the site to one and all.
