You have spent a lot of time preparing a great resume and cover letter, carefully filling in all the information your prospective employer needs to hire you and you have researched the company.
Now it is time to go for your interview.I covered a lot of this in my review on a successful interview but am going to stick to just this one topic for this review.
How you dress depends on the job you are out to get. If you want to be a garage mechanic dont go to the interview in a suit, just wear jeans and a t-shirt. As long as they are clean and no holes in them you are set for that type of interview.
If you are applying for a white collar job then of course you will want to dress up.I feel ladies can wear heels, just wear small ones.(ones that arent too high) and make sure they are comfortable on you. Heels make you look dressier.
A nice dress or suit for a lady is always a good choice. I would not suggest loud colors but certainly white or any darker color is fine. Examples might be blue (navy) grey, brown or even a nice dark green. Make sure your hose is free of runs and that your slip is not showing.
A man can wear a suit and tie but the tie is not all that necessary as long as the rest is in a dressy style. Gentlemen please bear in mind that people notice what you wear and what I see most often are shoes that are the wrong color to match the suit. They do not have to be the same color as the suit itself but for example a brown pair of shoes does not go with a black suit. Also your shirt should be in a light color. It does not have to be white, a nice light blue or even pink will do as long as it co-ordinates with the color of the suit you have on.
Keep your scents light and not over powering and make sure your hair is neat. If you have long hair it might be a good idea to tie it into a pony tail for the interview.
Most of all wear what you know looks well on you and do not wait until the day of the interview to decide what you are wearing. Have everything ready and decided ahead of time and go with confidence and pride in yourself.
The better you feel you look the better you will feel and this will show.
I also recommend wearing a watch and maybe one or two other pieces but dont over-do on that either.
For ladies that polish their fingernails and wear make-up, wear something light and not too loud.
