Drona, almost everything about this movie is wrong...oh so wrong.
This film is a mish mash of a lot of Hollywood flicks and a lot of video games.
The cut scenes interspersed in the film will remind you (if you play video games) of God of War (PS2).The opening sequences of Harry Potter, the action sequences of Prince of Persia (Ps2) and so on and so forth. The stock bad guys of Druids...and yes there is a cameo by Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. The storyline has elements like Dronas Sword and his white steed borrowed straight from King Arthur...really its all there.
Get this Priyanka Chopra saves Abhi from a life threatening situation, brings him back to an underground safe house and then breaks out into a proper bollywood song dressed in shorts with jhatkas and all. Talk about story continuity.Huh...
KK has been wasted. He looks like a cheap Jim Carey rip off.
Abhishek tries to be intense.well he tries.
Priyanka...Looks good.Cannot comment on her acting skills.
Jaya Bachchhan...Hamming it up...shes an embarassment to watch...I say this for lack of a better word.Embarassing because she hams her way through the entire length of her role and overdoes the melodrama bit.
Get this KK also turns her in to a statue...which can cry by the way...this gives rise to some really weird scenes with Drona (Abhishek) professing maternal love to a statue and trying to (what looks like) hug it.
The plot is centred on a demon trying to get his hands on Amrut which will make him immortal.
Dronas mission is one of self realization and then of course...saving the world from doom.
One question...KK as the demon wants immortality by consuming the amrut. However, he has been walking the world since hundreds of years. Thats already the definition of immortality. No? and thats without any Amrut. KK dies quite easily and ignominiously. Its like someone is playing a so called epic rpg game on kid mode.
Worst aspect of the film: Absolutely NO emotional connect of the viewer with Drona or any of the characters. The very basis of a superhero flick is that people must relate with him and feel for him. This is sorely missing in this flick, disappointing.
All in all, no coherence in the plot.Dodgy sfx and patchy editing.Atrocious dialogues and even worse acting.
Only redeeming factor. The cinematography which is breathtaking in parts.
