DTH vs Cable TV

Before you purchase a set top box

This is fairly disappointing ordeal I had gone through. I had purchased DTH from a popular vendor, while I eagerly waited for the technicians to install the Dish and set top box, I received a call stating that the techs were stopped by my society security guards. The guards have been instructed to not allow anyone to install DTH equipment in the building premises.

Whilst I tried to argue with the security guards(nere puppets) the instruction has apparently come from some old farts who govern the society association. apparently there is analog cable tv provider who has a tie up with the old farts(under the table deal I presume) and no external service provider is allowed to provide service. A complete monopoly by an utterly useless cable operator.

Unfortunately all my attempts went in vain, even requests to put the Dish on my balcony(literally part of my flat) as well as paying for the crappy cable operator for their connection(in addition to the DTH I have procured)

I had to cancel the connection from DTH due to these absurd rules of the association. So a word of caution, check your do’s and dont’s in the Association you reside in before you purchase services like cable/telephone/broadband.

Also I’m looking for advice if there is anything I can do in terms of taking action against this atrocity..
