You can never have enough

When I first bought my Home theatre 4 years ago, I thought that was it. I thought I could relax now and enjoy it for the rest of my life. I choose a SONY DVD player with lots of features like SDDS, AC3 (5.1), DTS etc (US$ 325/-) and a JBL Home theatre system (US$ 600).

The sound was more than enough for my living room and the features seemed just perfect until the market started flooding with MP3 CDs and pirated VCDs. My Sony DVD won’t play MP3 CDs and CD/Rs and CD/RWs. The best way out for me was to add another component (a VCD player that can play all these formats) to my existing system because I couldn’t digest the idea of byuing another DVD player with all these features for US$ 160 (a reduction in price of 50% in two years).

Now comes the latest shock pirated DVDs. Originals costs US$ 25 for one movie but pirated ones costs US$5 for four movies in a disc. What would you do? I bought a few and to my horror I am not getting the 5.1 effect when I play some of them. I am left with no choice but to look out for a new Home theatre system. A 7.1 this time and a DVD player (it now costs US$80) that can play everything!!!!

But I can’t help wonder how long I will be able to keep this one.
