Please ensure extreme caution buying products on eBay India. Their eBay Guarantee simply does not work. Here are 2 examples(very practical and straight forward ones).
I purchased a Blu Ray player using eBay INDIA site using the Global eBay route. The player was shipped without a remote.
I raised an eBay guarantee claim and the eBay representative who was assigned the claim explained to me that the listing did not explicitly mention that a remote will be shipped with the player and hence my claim will be rejected.
This was the most bizarre and illogical explanation from such a reputed organization from eBay. Does anyone ship a Blu ray player without a remote in this day and age? Clearly, the representative lacked training and practical sense of dealing with the claim.
It was rejected and closed and I cannot escalate it further. The player is now a worthless product to me unless I spend the money to buy the remote.
I had a similar experience in Flipkart and they were miles ahead of eBay in terms of understanding the customer’s plight and promptly shipped the remote. eBay did not own anything.
Second example - I purchased an Amazon Kindle Fast Charger. The Fast Charger is supposed to charge 40% faster than a normal charger.
Forget charging faster, it does not even charge the kindle devices. It looked like a fake charger but at the price of an original one. When I again raised an eBay guarantee claim, again the eBay representative said that the product is as per listing and that I have to work directly with seller to solve the problem.
Once you are at the mercy of the seller, you can forget all hopes of a refund or product exchange.
I have now stopped shopping on eBay completely.
And, I would definitely recommend all of you to be extremely careful and ensure complete caution in understanding that eBay Guarantee in INDIA is very suspect.
I have to mention that eBay US is a lot more mature and did not find such hassles.
