Ek-Ajnabee or Jaltha Aadmi? aka Man on Fire

Hmmm

One more copy or inspired by kind of movie from Bollywood. I am sorry to say this that the movie is a scene to scene frame to frame and dialogue to dialogue copy of Man on Fire. Nothing much the director had to do other than have a good translator!! Technically its well shot, Mexico city (from Man On Fire) is replaced by Bangkok

Amitabh and to some extent the little cute girl (rucha Vaidya) make it up for the audience if you are watching the movie. If you have seen Man on Fire then there is nothing in the movie that shall compel you to sit through it.

I am by no means saying that Man on Fire was great or inspirational movie, but once you know the story what is going to happen, at least I cannot sit through the movie.

One positive thing was the Big B looking bigger and better than ever. Clad in those suave Gabbana Suits, he can take on the Denzel Washington’s of Hollywood anytime if they ever get a chance to share a common dias.

Well, Retired Colonel; Suryaveer Singh is a hard drinking man in his 50’s and carries a lot of emotional baggage from a blotched military operation, in which he accidentally kills a few kids. On insistence from his former albeit younger colleague Arjun Rampal, Singh decides to work as bodyguard to a rich indian family (vikram Chatwal & Perizaad Zorabian) in Bangkok.

Thus begins Colonel Singh’s tryst with Anamika the cute 8 year old girl of the family whom he is assigned to protect. The scenes between the grim faced Colonel and the nosy kid are the best in the movie and brought about a few smiles though the dialogues I knew before hand. So the colonel sets to bury the ghosts of his past by ushering a new era of kindness and companionship with the kid and the family.

Time for the baddies to enter the scene and kidnap the kid leaving the Colonel severely injured with multiple bullet shots. Then begins the revenge drama. The metamorphosis of the Colonel to become an angry old man who decides to hit back at the kidnapper. Rest is the usual fare of action killings and dhamaka. Thats as far as I will go and not not divulge the not so difficult to spot twists in the endings.

Good acting by Raj Zutshi, Rucha Vaidya. Arjun Rampal has got not much to do in the movie

Worth a watch if you dont have anything to do. A must watch for Amitabh cult followers for he stands out here. On an ending note hope he is back in action soon, for he is a giant amongst pygmies in the film industry
