First of all , let me make it clear that I am neither a Shivsena supporter nor a Manisha Koirala fan!. I am a normal hindi movie buff!
Why did I watch this movie?
Frankly telling , I watched this movie because of all the hype (shashilal nair, the trick worked) and yeah coz my friends got hold of the tickets when the movie hype was still hot!
Cast and the Plot:
The basic plot is like this :
The protagonist played by Manisha Koirala and the boy live in the same apartment , colony or whatever. The boy plays the peeping TOM. He proposes to her one day and she decides to teach him a lesson. She is determined to show him that there is nothing called love , everything is for sensual pleasures. The other (main) cast includes a granny, one lover boy(a channel [V] VJ, I forgot his name) for all the supposedly explicit scenes and not to mention the dupe! :).
When Manisha has agreed to essay such a role , I don’t find it logical , the questioning of the supposedly (really ?) scenes which were less objectionable than the role she essays. I must agree that it is not a normal hindi movie. It is no taboo either.
My opinion:
Thought the film could and should have been completed in around 1 ½ hours.I don’t see the point in Nair dragging it for 2 ½ hours. He keeps on showing the same scenes over and over again. Though the basic plot seems good (some say it has been ripped from an English movie) , the length of the film is too much .It needs a huge huge trim. .Towards the last ½ an hour , I felt really frustrated and was waiting for the film to get over.To sum it up, it could have been a good (albeit, just) 1 ½ hour movie , though not a great one. The basic hindrance to the success of the movie would be the pace , too slow!
One irritating part about the movie (, and this starts the frustration ) is the background music.Though the tune is ok, the same tune played for the whole length of the movie drove the nuts out of me. The ending is too pitiable. It is like waiting for your death at the deathbed. You know it is there but cant seem to find/get it .
To tell you about the performances , there is nothing too much to talk about anyway coz this film is not a showcase for ones acting talents and so the performances don’t matter.
PS : The granny of the boy does a good job , though.
Do I recommend it?
Absolutely ’’not’’. If you have too much money , please send it to any of the orphanages. Please don’t waste it on this movie.
