Without getting into the plot etc am jumping into what went wrong in this film for me. I like Imran and feel he was badly directed in this one.

Apparently Hollywood Studios firm up the authenticity of their film’s characters by doing an Eneagram of the imagined personality. So the script doesn’t goof up by mistake. If am said to be a cheerful friendly, easy type, can I live for years in a place and not have ANY friends? That would be weird no? But Bollywood being Bollywood doesnt bother with such obvious stuff. In which zamaana did one believe that a romcom was to have superclean and beautiful settings? It works against the story because the actors look like they are not people one can relate with. Phoren is fine, Vegas is fine.but please, include some reality when you can. So we have this sterile setting and then we have these two people who apparently have no interaction with any other human beings in Vegas. The bubbly vivacious heroine is through with a boyfriend and is tired of being in relationships.but hello, there is really no person that one can see. Ditto for the morose poor little rich boy.

It starts promisingly but the few characters that people it look fake. So the rich boy has dumb rich parents who are cheerless and soulless. Surely when you take "actors" like Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak, they can do this without looking like caricatures? Apparently not. They are rich and unpleasant and very unsubtly so. Do rich people really tell their 25 year old sons to chew 32 times in public? So they know when to insist you use a chopstick but dont know basic manners. The firang aged wife of the rich man gropes the innocent hero at the dining table. Pray tell us are the rich really so stupid or are we the middle class supposed to feel good about ourselves to not belong to this vulgar set?

The Bandra Catholic family is the saving grace of this film but don’t have much footage. They are real not because they are not-rich but because they are not hackneyed or caricaturish.

Rahul Kapoor is really a pretty faltu name to come up with for the hero. As is the tribute to DDLJ which seems mandatory for Karan Johar’s directors. Stop the banality already.

If one can watch a whole film because the ending is pretty sensible and interesting, one can watch this.
