Ek tha Raja Ek Thi Rani- An Unusual TV Program

This is an unusual TV program, very different from the saas-bahu and the regular family dramas aired on the television. For eg its a story of Royal family as the name itself suggests and second it is set in pre-independent India, so we get to know the times, the lifestyle and the opinion of people of that era.

Gayathri played by Drahti Daamini is a common girl who falls in love wit Ranaji(Siddhant Karnick) at first sight. The royal family has to pay huge debts to the richest landlord of Ameerkot, who happens to be Gayathri’s father. Rajmata proposes a deal to him saying that the king will marry Gayathri on the condition that all the debts are forgiven as a form of Dahej. Ranaji is against this marriage as he still loves his late wife but has to relent to Raj maata’s whishes for the sake of the kingdom. And Gayathri is unaware that the marriage is not because of love, not due to the love letters she wrote to Ranaji but its a business deal.

On the other hand, Ranaji’s maternal uncle and his wife keep plotting against him and have secretly carried out various attempts to take his life, so that they can crown their son as the King. As they have become outrageosly mold in their evil attempts, Ranaji and his mother have come to realize the identity of the culprits. I am just waiting for them to be punished.

Its a highly intriguing drama with various twists and turns and dark secrets in the kingdom. The show is fast paced and never boring.
