Well, am sad to say this but I have been a great fan of the Vidhu Vinod stable of films, especially since he supported a non-conventional subject like Gandhigiri in Munnabhai. Little wonder than, that the disappointment was that much larger to see him taking the audience for granted.
Mr.Chopra, let me tell you that even an Amitabh Bachhan cannot revive a bad script. What was the film trying to say?? If the royal guard was ageing and blinding, why couldn a family which could give 25 crores to
save his life not buy him a pair of glasses for Rs. 250.. Also why was such a huge mahal being manned by the one and only old Eklavya.... they could have always hired some assisants for him or got a replacement for
him. In the whole palace, there is not one servant.... Everyone is just walking in and out without any purpose.
I Know know how Vidhuji managed to gift Amitabh a Rolls Royce... Simply by calling all the other actors for a half day shift for just one day and saving loads of money... To make the project commercially viable, he has taken a lo of big names, but sadly all of them have no more than three minutes to perform. Sharmila Tagore who was rumoured to play reel mom to real life son Saif, is exactly there for 30 seconds and without any scenes with beloved son.
Marathon interviews, rolls royce gifting and other such trivial things do not a good film make. If you want the audience to shell out 170 rupees to watch your film, you better make it a good one.
A small budgeted parzania or a khosla ka ghosla wihout star cast and publiciy was a delight to watch. You Mr. Chopra had Amitabh Bachhan, a place, a good cameraman, a good supporting cast.... How I wish you had a good script to back all these peoples efforts!!
Trul, Eklavya was a big disappointment in the truest sense of the word.....
