Enchey Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Gangtok.Last week when we went to Gangtok and went out for local sightseeing, our cab driver stopped us at Enchey Monastery and asked us to visit the Monastery. it is not a famous monastery as Rumtek Monastery but it is a very peaceful place to visit.
There are not much tourists here and we got a solicitude in the monastery. We had to walk a bit to enter the monastery from the place the cab left us.
The monastery is full of paintings and there is Buddha diety therein. The pillars are also beautifully crafted. There is a calm and serene atmosphere inside the Monastery. There is no entry fee for the monastery also.
There were many monks around in the monastery. We interacted with them. they told us many facts about the monastery, Buddhism and also about how the earthquake damaged the monastery.
I enjoyed the silence and quiteness of the monastery. It gives a peacful feeling and positive vibe.
A must visit .
