Teenage Wizard- no! its not Harry Potter

Christopher paolini perhaps is the future king of writing epic books. His first novel, Eragon, is a convincing testament to his imaginative writing skills. it has been critically acclaimed all over the word and with good reason. The book is excellent, well thought out and neatly executed.

However, this book is not perfect. It is way too long and fails to interest the reader in the first 50 to 75 pages. It goes on to give unnecessary and unimportant details which the reader does not wish to read. It is still, however, a compelling read.

This is abook of science fiction involving all types of mystical and mythological creatures such as elves and dragons. An evil king rules over Algaesia (the name given to the kingdom where Eragon lives) who has destroyed the previous generation of rulers, the awesome Dragon Riders. It is in this politically volatile situation that a new warrior rises to confront and , possibly, overthrow Galbatorix.

It deals with the life of a teenager, Eragon, whose destiny is changed overnight. From a young hunter and farmer he becomes a fierce and feared warrior with the help of Brom, another character in the book. This change takes place when the last of the dragon eggs hatches for Eragon. A brilliantly beautiful dragon takes Eragon as her Rider and the pair vow to extinguish all traces of evil from their country, Algaesia.

note: This is the first book in a three part trilogy known as the Inheritance Trilogy. The second book called ELDEST is out and it is good as well. In fact, I would rate it better than Eragon.
