I was spending Rs.240/- per week in getting bottled water for my family in New Delhi India as the water supply in our Apartments in New Delhi the water is not readily drinkable. This is because of content in excess of Salt and various dissolved solids in water. Due to various reasons even bottled water either became rare or duplicate water in the name of reputed companies used to be sold to us. Bottled water though very soft no one can guarantee that they are free from micro organisms like virus/bacteria.
As an Engineer in Mechanical discipline and working for a Giant Indian multinational Engineering construction company in India I have come across installation of Reversible Osmosis Plants for Indudtries.
This prompted me to search for a RO system when I browsed the net to find Reviva RO System for Residences.
This system comprises of a particle filter, activated carbon pre filter, Electronic pump, Membrane filter, Activated carbon post filter, a tank to store 8 litres of water.
Main (major) particles in water inlet are filtered in particle filter and water enters the pump through carbon filters. Pumped water tries to penetrate the membrane roll filter that has water passing capacity of hardly 0.0001mm). Due to forcible penetration of water through such a small passable opening all the dissolved icro orgnism get seperated and discharged out as rejected water. 1:3 is the ratio of processed water to reject water.
Activated Carbon filter treats water salts and allows (retains) some amount of minerals in water for softness that is taste. technically this is known as PH value. More PH Value means water is Acidic & very hard and lesser PH value means water is Alkalic means very soft. For water to be tasty the PH Value is in the middle range of above 5 to 6. Water with lesser PH value becomes sour in taste and more PH value tastes salty.
The unit is functioning very good and I used to consume 80litres of bottled water per week @ Rs. 240/- but now I am spending hardly Re.0.75 for the same amount of good water. One main difference is that lot of water wastage is there (1:3) though reject water could be used for cleaning utensils etc. but neither for bath nor for wash.
But there is one more technicality that needs to be borne in mind. It is better to approach the Eureka Forbes technician and to know the TDS (Totally Dissolved Solid or Salts) of the water. Accordingly the type of system will vary.
RO system that is Reviva functions very nicely with water TDS 500 to 1800 (Checked by me personally). Please do not use any RO system if the Water TDS is less than 500.
One good thing with Eureka Forbes is there is no dealer for them in India. All products are marketted, maintained & serviced by Eureka Forbes.
Good water solution. Good buy. Be careful not to use RO System in water with TDS less than 500.
