Yup..tas wat comes first to yer mind aftr seeing this masterpiece! Sam Raimis first major production( made on peanuts), and it goes on to be one of the biggest cult horror movie of our generation.
Though it was made in 1984 (i think), it still had it in it to scare the daylight outta moi! The story is essentially notihn new( but back then im sure it must have been)
A group of teens decide to spend their vacation in the woods( I wud’ve picked a water theme park. personally!!). An they pick the scariest house to do so, with creaking doors, completely deserted area..an wat not!
THey discover a tape in the basement which belonged to the previous resident. They play it only to find out that the guy found out some portal to an evil dimension which must never be opened.
DO they listen??. ishud say not...they decide they cud use the challenge..and play the incantations on the tape to open it.
Then as we all know, monsters etc, etc...invasde the house....struggle to stay alive....yada..yada!! Only a genius like Raimi cud turn this ordinary piece of writing into a work of art. Wat he did to this movie..was like ....i dunno...wat Cameron did fer Titanic!
He managed to produce such a creepy atmossphere, and THATS where I believe he succeeded! Blends the music in perfectly.....or t lack of it. Tas somethin tis movie is known for...very clinical use of music only where necessary! An t idea of some guy goin BWaahhhhhhhhhhhhh in t background made it even more scarier...!!! Bbbbrrrrrrrrh!!!
The Creature effects an make up were extra ordinary for that time...
Some sequences(like t pencil stabbing scenee.....tat was a definite nutcracker..)
T standout performance none othr tan ash( Bruce campbell). I feel for him.
ANywas...i suggest u read t trivia of the movie at IMdb Truly is awesome.
Definitely a must see fer horror fans...t genius tat is Raimi( though I must say I kinda hated Spidey 3)
