Well, I am writing this one more for my satisfaction, than any real expectation that anybody might actually stay in one of these hotels.
I think anybody who has been to any Indian hotel spending roughly INR 2000 - 3500 a night, can expect to be treated very well and with courtesy. Not so if you happen to stay in an Extended Stay Hotel in United States.
While this is a fairly large chain of hotels, and all hotels may not be the same, I am quite surprised, that my every brush with this brand has always resulted in the same mixed feelings; and a bit of disappointment.
Depending on the location and what you are paying, the amenities vary. That part is understandable and acceptable. However, the customer orientation and service is a concern irrespective.
Room service is not good, the internet is always erratic, the dish washer leaks, utensils are old and stained, telephone seldom works; and to top it all the staff is usually very curt, if not downright impolite and unhelpful.
If you are staying for a quick 2-3 days, you may not even notice these problems. However, if you stay a bit longer; you will inevitably face issues and unhelpful staff. It’s not that they are rude, but they make it sound as if you are wasting their time and whatever could be done is already done.
I think, with better trained and customer oriented staff, this place would have been among the contenders for my future choice of hotels. Sadly, while their infrastructure is just about okay(even with all the foregone issues I listed), their manpower is woefully short on courtesy. While I appreciate that these hotels are meant to provide discounted stay for longer duration.
Bottom line is, you can’t discount hospitality being in the hospitality industry.
