I am extremely turned off by the tactics used by Ezeego on their "Buy 1 and Get 2 Free" tickets program on Air Deccan. I purchased two Air Deccan tickets on Jan 3 - more than 10 days before the program ended and immediately received email promotional codes for 4 free tickets. How excited I was to see those emails come through.and I started to think that all the negative comments on Mouthshut about Ezeego were un-warranted.
Little did I expect the frustration that was in store. Mind you, there was still a week left with their Jan 15 deadline for redeeming the tickets.
I tried Delhi to Goa, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai. NOTHING WAS AVAILABLE. The message in bloody red font stated something along the lines of "Fares in that class are no longer available". I tried random dates and destinations. NOTHING! ZERO! In other words, the promotional tickets were no longer available in stock.
I quickly went to read the Terms and Conditions. It was not clear to me that there was limited stock of tickets and it would be first come first served. Mind you, I am not uncomfortable reading legal garbage.and it wasnt stated clearly to me that there was a risk in terms of being able to redeem the free tickets.
However, just for the sake of argument, lets say that I didnt read the T&C with perfect vision, and that EzeeGo did state that specific clause clearly, I have 2 questions for the Company:
1) If the special tickets were all sold out, why are you - Ezeego - still promoting the program proudly on your website? Shouldnt you have stopped drawing in new customers with a false promise? and;
2) Why are you - Ezeego - leading me to a "Redeem your tickets" link only to be repeatedly shown a message saying that I am out of luck? Are you just trying to tick your customers off? If you knew that the program was no longer going to fulfill its stated promise, why were you still promoting it?
Of course, calling the Call Center and trying to reason with one of their agents took me nowhere. I arguably would get more pleasure by going to the dentist to get a root canal or beating my head against a brick wall!
The only thing that was easy about the experience was how EZEELY I felt ripped off by Ezeego. Mind you, the 2 Deccan tickets I purchased were about Rs. 200 more expensive than on other sites. "So what?" I thought.I would make up for it with the free tickets. But, alas.
This basically strikes me as a company that is trying to create big buzz and volume in a short period of time. It is not trying to earn growth and success the old fashioned way - by doing things right consistently over time.
