We bought the Faber cook top(3 burners) less than 2 years back(April 2008) .
We opted for a cook top as against a hob because the latter need the granite kitchen slab to be cut and the cut dimensions are not standard. i.e. if a few years later if the hob needs to replaced, you may have re-install the entire granite slab as the cut dimension is not matching (eg: X is smaller, and Y is bigger). Faber themselves had changed the cut dimensions at least a couple of times in last six months!
The cook top was good looking and had a low height which helped easy access to vessels kept on the stove. Too high stoves are not agronomical as it puts strain on the arms while working( the same issue as in raised keyboards of a computer).
It is not very easy to clean below though due the low height, but since it is movable and light, it is OK.
The auto ignition was very useful as it helped to light the burner easily for any kind of vessels, better than a standalone lighter. It works from a battery, which has lasted till now(~ 2Years).
The auto ignition however is not very reliable(one did not work for very long time, and many times some wont work).
The main issue with this however is that the burners are faulty. It sometimes bursts into flames(a mini explosion) especially while lighting the stove. It also sometimes stops by itself. But the worst part is that the brass burners went bad within less than 2 years. The brass burners are so thin guage that they have bend due to heat and the flame keeps leaking from below the burners.
The service person said that the burners needs to be replaced, but they are yet ot bring the new burner despite 2 reminders.
The supporting holders for the vessels are also no good. They are so far away from the flame and it makes the vessels directly touch the burner, especially for smaller vessels.
The stove we had earlier(Sunflame or something) worked without any problem for 10 years.
It looks like Faber does not know how to make a gas stove(especially a cook top) which suit Indian cooking.
