I used orkut which is really nice at that time when it was launched their themes and purpose is same as facebook.
Just request for friend search, friends join groups community edit your profile I really like that social site but when I saw that all my friends now in facebook.
At first I needed more time to understand that new site their features are same but some more features added but now facebook has much more features now facebook is the way to learn just join some groups they will send videos joke wallpaper daily . So facebook is more better than orkut.
It has a generation x factor.
