Where The Crossover Begins.....

In 1998, Faith Hill recorded her third album for Warner Brothers!  When This Kiss was released as the album’s first single, Faith Hill’s world and also her place in music changed her forever!  I don’t think Faith expected This Kiss to go as far as it did!  Before pop radio had their hands on the single, it was already a big hit on the country charts!

The Cd opens up with the mega smash This Kiss!  This song is fun and up beat!  I know it is one you would love to dedicate to that special someone in your life!!  One of those songs you will sing all day once you hear it!  I know from seeing Faith Hill live, this is a crowd pleaser and also I think this is a personal favorite of hers!

The Second song on the album is You Give Me Love!  This is a semi-upbeat tune!  Catchy and one can just crank up in the car while you drive!  Vocally I love how Faith gets into it and also lyrically, you are able to relate to this!  My only real riff with this entire album is the fact that this great song did not get released to radio!  Would have been great to make a video for!

Let Me Let Go is the third track on the cd!  Now for those of you who only know Faith as a pop star, this song has two mixes!  I personally like the pop mix for the song, it just had a certain depth that the original doesn’t!  If you are strictly country, then this mix is just right for you!  Vince Gill lends a hand in backing up Faith on the song!  Countrywise, this song did well on the charts, if I am not mistaking, it hit #1!  The video did very well and had lots of air play as well!  To  get the version of this song that had more an R&B feel, you have to get the Australian Import called Greatest Hits ( which was only released in Australia ), but alot of stores such as Wal-mart do carry this particular disc, which contains the better mix!  Over all this is a great song, but it is up to you the listener and the buyer of which two you like!  Over all this is a tear jerker and Faith does grab your heart!

The fourth track is a song called Love Ain’t Like That!  This song is a ballad, and sort of has an Amy Grant effect lyrically!  It is a great song and the lyrics are just simpy relateable!  It has great effects instrumentally, with the harmonica and the steel guitars and the keyboard sounding like an organ!  I garuntee you will like this song!

The fifth track on Faith is a song called Better Days!  This is one you would certainly called an influence song!  Totally puts you to mind of Reba McEntire, even the title sounds like a song she would have done!  This is one you will playwhen your whole day has gone bad and you don’t think you have anyone to turn to!  Faith Hill’s vocal will just put you in a great mood and whatever made you mad that day, well she erase it!  I have used this song many times when I needed a great song to pull me out of the blues!

The sixth track is My Wild Frontier and I like this song alot!  Very much a country styled song!  Basically Faith is back into her roots here!  It is a pretty ballad!  Very acoustic bound!  She soars on her vocals here!  I like the high notes she hits here!  This is where I would compare Shania and Faith here!  Both ladies sometimes do similar songs, but over all, it is a great ballad!  I garuntee you will like the up lifting lyrics and the beautiful melody!

The seventh track we have the top ten country hit The Secret Of Life!  Now when the cd was released in 1998, this song was played alot!  Very much a shame that radio forgets this song!  I like this song because it is sort of the country version of Alanis Morrisette’s Ironic!    A song about every day life and how we think there is a special secret, and really we come to find out at the end of the song, there is no secret!  It really comes down to this, Life is what we make of it!  If you don’t really know this song, I garuntee you will play it alot!

The eighth track has a guest appearance by Faith’s husband, Tim McGraw!  The song is Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me!  Beautiful ballad and also written by the talented Diane Warren!  This is sort of the Faith Hill version of It’s Your Love, instead this time Faith is in the leading spot and Tim backs her up!  They do this very well!  Their vocals blend right!  This is one you can tell the two of them really love each other!  I enjoy anything these do together!  True Love really shows in this song!  Their relationship and the song have something in common, VERY BEAUTIfUL!  This was also a big hit for Faith!  You will tend to hear this on country radio from time to time!

Me is the nineth track!  Bringing us back to an upbeat feel!  This song has sort of a This Kiss feel, even though two different people wrote the two songs!  But you will enjoy this unforgettable song!  Would have made a great radio release, and probably would have been yet another crossover for our country diva!  This will probably be one of those that will stick in your head after a couple of plays!

Track ten is a song written by Aldo Nova, and this song is called I Love You!  This song was also done by Celine Dion slightly before Faith did it!  I like both versions of the song!  Over all, this is sort of the modern In The Still Of The Night!  Very 50’s like and it is just a great ballad!  The song really takes you to a situation we all have been through, the first time you lay your eyes on the true love of your life!  It talks about how we tend to be nervous and not sure how the other feels.  I love the 50’s effect in the song and I love how Faith just really gets deep into the song!  This is also a song you will dedicate to that special crush you have in your life!  Send them this song, and I promise they will probably be feeling the same way you do!  Really would have been a great song to release too!  I bet this would have gone to #1 had Faith’s record company sent this out!  Faith really puts an Olivia Newton-John effect to this...great song!

Track eleven is a song rock-a-billy song called The Hard Way!  I like this song due to the fact that Faith gives her all vocally!  We can all relate to this song too!  A song about loving the wrong person!  The person who drags us down or the person who won’t give love back!  Due to the up beat feel, this is probably one you can use to unlock that door and throw away the key to the no good person you claim to to love!!  Chalk this up to pushing that bad apple out of your life and simply moving on!

Track twelve closes out the cd and it was written by grammy winning and also pop rocker Sheryl Crow!  The song is called Somebody Stand By Me!  By the sound of this song, you wouldn’t think Crow had a hand in this!  It is a country ballad and it really digs deep in a country/bluesy ballad feel!  Faith pulls it off the way Faith knows how to!  She gets into it!  Lyrics are relatable!  We all crave that in life, when we are weak and we need just a friendly shoulder to cry on!
