Yes, ladies and gentlemen, its finally here. The dysfunctional family’inspired’ by the mogul in the dysfunctional family entertainment The Simpsons, is finally here in India to try out its luck on Star World.
Just in case you are wondering what relevance the heading of the review has to the topic the review . it does’nt! Doesn’t make sence? Welcome to the world of the Family Guy !

This series created by Seth McFarlane shows the family of a(n almost) retarded person, Peter Griffin his wife Louis, their daughter Meg their teenage son Chris, their toddler son Stewie and their dog Bryan.
Don’t ask me how a major babe like Louis ended up with a semi retarded person but their teenager son Chris is growing up to be as fat and abnoxious as his dad.
Meg is a geek and does whatever she thinks she can to look cool which includes taking off her specs( which are so big that they could catch cable) and walking straight into a wall.
Their toddler, Stewie ( my favourite character here) maynot be able to change his own nappies but is hell bent upon world domination. He has his own stash of weapons of mass destruction. He absolutely hates his mom and wishes to start his world domination spree by first killing her off.
Of course every dysfunctional family has friends to present weird sutiations and the inability of the family to handle that situation, which of course makes it all the more funnier to watch. Cleveland who is one of the very few recurring African Americans on the show along with Glen Quagmire among others make it all the more funny. Glen is a sex maniac and all he does and thinks of is sex. He has a favourite line " Giggaty Giggaty Goo " which says shaking his crotch to and front looking at some female.

Though it would seem at the very first sight that all of it is copied from The Simpsons, there are major differences if you watch closely:
The Simpsons have a story line which is strictly followed whereas the Family guy just makes fun of celebrities and TV shows.
Since it came in almost a decade after the Simpsons first ran, it has gone down a couple of notches to start with using absolutely slapstick comedy. The Simpsons is a family thing and could never go down that lane. The Family guy needed attention and that it got.
The Simpsons are more believable, Homer loves his family despite all the strangling Bart and everything else. Peter Griffin however is retarded and absolutely unpredictable.He has shown total disregard for his own as well as his family’s wellbeing on many occasions . Hell . even the dog(Brian) and the toddler Stewie talk on the Family Guy show.
I am not judging it. But I prefer the Simpsons anyday.
But inspite of what we all might say, it is pretty popular in the US and what we need to see is if it would hold its ground in India as well.
