Last year, Yash Raj Camp had disappointed some of his fans due to his ‘hatke’ movies. But this year, he promises to give 100% entertainment to everyone. And he gives it in ‘Fanaa’!! The story of the movie: Zooni (Kajol), a blind girl lives with her parents Zulfi (Rishi Kapoor) and Nafisa (Kirron Kher) in Kashmir. She sets off to Delhi with her friends to perform on Republic Day. In Delhi, their tour guide was Rehan (Aamir Khan). He was a total flirt and a casanova.
Zooni started getting attracted to Rehan because of his attractive personality. And as her tour came to an end, she falled in love with Rehan. Rehan, too, started loving her but he was afraid to tell her what he was. He had hidden a terrible truth from her. Aamir Khan, Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, was simply excellent here. He does total justice to his role and neither overacts nor disappoints! He has become more better after the comeback and I hope he delivers such excellent performances in future too! Kajol was marvelous!
This was her film after 5 years, but still she looked fresh, young and energetic. Her acting was too good and applauding. She went into the skin of the character. Really, Kajol’s performance is worth watching! Rishi Kapoor had a brief role throughout the movie. He was fine and gives a good performance. Kirron Kher’s acting was very nice. Tabu as Malini Tyagi, an intelligence officer does a great job in this movie. She, too, did no overacting and was perfect. Sharat Saxena, too, gives, a nice performance. Lilette Dubey as usual looked young and her performance was as usual too good. Shruti Seth was good. Vrajesh Hirjee and Jaspal Bhatti were funny. Lara Dutta was in a scene and looked beautiful. Shiney Ahuja was simply wasted. I had expected Shiney’s role to be a big one but he was in the movie just for 2 minutes! Jatin-Lalit’s music was as usual magical! It’s very sad that they have go separate ways. Their melodious music really would be missed in the forthcoming movies. Songs were not added to drag the movie and were kept in proper situations. The most favourite is ‘Chand Sifarish’ ‘Dekho Na’ and ‘Mere Haath Mein’ Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography was superb. Because of his cinematography, the movie becomes livelier! Locations are breath-taking (The snow-clad regions shown in the movie is Poland, not Kashmir!) Story is the biggest pro of the movie.
The story has suprising twists but though it is not too complicated and very easy to understand. Kunal Kohli’s direction was perfect and one cannot believe that he is the same man who made Hum Tum! The movie is romantic, dramatic, funny in the first half but changes totally in the second half when the movie turns into a action packed cum dramatic. But the movie also started getting slow in the second half and this may disappoint the viewers. Some of the excellent scenes of the movie: 1. The entry of Aamir Khan and Vrajesh Hirjee! 2. The scene where Rehan escapes from Army helicopter in the second half 3. The scene where Kajol speaks to Tabu on radio On the whole, Fanaa is amazing! It has everything to make the viewers entertain- great performance, melodious music, breathtaking cinematography, excellent action scene. A must watch for everyone! Gujarat is too unlucky!
