A Panacea to all your problems

How often have we seen ourselves doing what is expected of us and dreaming about the rest?

When I look around I find that a preponderance of individuals live out their fears instead of their dreams .Why is that we block our dreams by letting our fears grow bigger than our faiths? It’s probably because of our psychodynamics that we end up giving fear the power to paralyze us.

“Feel the fear and do it anyway” by Susan Jeffers teaches us to see clearly and intuitively into the nature of fear. The author begins by explaining the five truths about fear . My favourite among the five being “Pushing through fear is less frightening than living with the fear that comes from the feeling of helplessness”

She emphasizes on the fact that its only natural for one feel to scared while approaching a new territory but the only way of surmounting this fear is by crossing the threshold. How do we cross a threshold when we presume that on the other side there are monsters waiting to eat us? To help us convert our retreat into advance the author has explained the concept of “The Chatterbox” and “The Internal Friend”.

“The Chatterbox” and “The Internal Friend” are the two contradicting voices that one hears every time he has to make a choice. While the former dispirits you, the latter tries to inspirit you. The author teaches you to discount the chatterbox and take notice of the internal friend. Once you understand this concept you will even be able to listen to your instinct. Don’t all of us dream of climbing the mountains or crossing the rivers but when it comes to realising this dream suddenly the mountains seem too high and the river too wide. To make the toughest task look like a sinecure the author teaches us to use the most powerful tool that we possess – our subconscious mind.

The author talks about how some people end up giving so much importance to a particular person or thing that their entire life revolves around this particular person or thing. To understand and keep up with our priorities the author teaches us to draw a table and fill it with all the things that are important to us. The point of this whole exercise is to understand that instead of revolving around one particular thing our life should revolve around the entire table.

There are many more concepts that are explained in this book. This book is not only my best pedagogue but also a panacea to all my problems. Every time I have a problem all I have to do is to reflect on what is said in the book to find a solution .

I found a lot of similarities between “The Alchemist” and this book. I feel that it’s a practical version of ‘The Alchemist.’
