The first German department in India was started in fergusson college. The center of attraction of campus is a structure called Kimaya which is a structure of open theatre, an idea that was funded by well known writer in Marathi -P.L.Deshpande. With the academics college also encourages students in various fields like arts, culture, experiments, maths, sports etc. A no.of students have become the pride for the college by winning competitions at State as well.as National level.
The cultural program is the attraction of the college during fests as it consists of two cultural shows-one for Indian students n another for foreign students.
