We have a tradition of owning diesel driven vehicles in our family since last 15 years.
When I decided to buy a new small diesel for daily commuting, I decided on a Palio Dsince I was very impressed when I test drove it. The vehicle is solid, sturdy and gives you a sense of security. Looks are fairly good and the drive is very pleasurable even on long stretches though I was never happy with the head lamps.
For about 12000 kms there was no problem when suddenly it did not start after I parked it outside my clients office. The Palio service guys came and somehow got it started without them knowing what exactly was the problem though they had doubts on the main engine harness connector.
Thereafter, the engine fuel pump light would glow at times after starting and it would stop after the car was re-started. This also happen on a bumpy surface. Assuming a loose connection somewhere I got it checked with various mechanics but nobody could rectify the defect so I lived with this defect.
The car delivered 12 km/lit with AC on which is fairly less than my Indica.
After doing about 35, 000 kms the engine started consuming oil which increased beyond norms after doing 36, 000 kms and my mechanic now tells me that it requires an overhaul. I was shocked to hear this and feel that I really made a big mistake to buy this vehicle.
For those who might think otherwise, I must tell you that I have ensured proper services through Fiat dealer all this while.
