After a long time

Well the title of my review has nothing to do with the review per say.

IT is just that it has been a really long time since I am penning a review at MS.

Don’t ask me why. I really don’t have a valid reason for my absence.

Getting down to my review, Fida was most definitely one of the few releases that I have been looking forward to in recent times.

For the obvious reasons that it is Shahid Kapoor and Ken Ghosh’s next release after their debut with Ishq Vishq and also because the promos of the film looked quite promising.

Does the film deliver is the question however.

I have had a lot of time to think about it and I chose to write a review after three days of viewing the film for the same reason. I wanted to ponder over it a little more.

To begin with the good points of the film are so many.

The most credible being the story of the film. It does not fall into any trappings or norms of hindi cinema and does not get cliched as the climax nears. To those who have seen the film it would be more clear of what I am saying.

SEcondly the performances in the film from all three lead actors is phenomenal. Especially Shahid Kapoor. Although he had his moments in his debut film Ishq Vishq - this kind of proves that he can swim in deep waters as well. Shahid is pretty convincing as a lover as he is as a victim. Although makers should try not to cash in so much on his smile.

Anu malik’s music is refreshing as ever. But do pay a little extra attention to the background sound effects in the film - very carefully designed by the director of the film himself.

Beautiful locations, great cinematography are all other factors that contribute to the film.

So where does the film lack?

FIrstly the pace of the film in the first half. The build up takes up the entire first half of the film.

The villain in the film is far too loud and obnoxious.

At the end of the day the film does not come across as larger than life.

So my advice to all of you who haven’t seen it yet would be - go for the film without any expectations. In fact that piece of advice should be followed for every film if you want to enjoy it whole heartedly.
