Requires perseverance at the start...but pays off

This was my second read of this book. Not exactly a read but a fast skim. Paulo Coelho is an author who makes me want to give all his books a second reading. Loads of wisdom in small bits strewn across the book like pearls on sand kissed beach. If someone knows how to write an engrossing tale with spirituality as the background, it’s him.

While reading parts of it the second the time round, I was constantly thinking that there are so many passages from this book that I want to reproduce here. But, unfortunately, my computer and the book aren’t available at the same time and place. Citing this particular reason, I have already procrastinated lots so even though I cannot write down some of those exact passages here, I am going to go ahead and finish this particular review.

Fifth Mountain is the story of Elijah set in a time when people did not believe in the one God. Elijah is a prophet; he hears voices and has a guardian angel. His life’s mission is to make people aware of the truth, to awaken them from their state of ignorance and wrong beliefs.

It’s the story of the lessons that Elijah learns on this path, lessons of resilience, of faith, of losing everything and then rebuilding from scratch, of the woman that he loves, and her son.

A good read.
