Fighting can be fun

This movie slaps around consumerism like I have seen in no other. Brilliant direction by David Fincher(of ’’Se7en’’ and ’’The Game’’ fame) and a superb performance by Brad Pitt Edward Norton and of course Helena Bonham Carter.

Plot

The plot starts with Edward, an insomniac, who ends up going to cancer & other disease support groups when he finds out that attending helps him to sleep better. Bang pops up Helena Carter (cast as Marla Singer) who plays a manic depressive woman. She starts attending the same groups as Edward and now he cant go to sleep. He also is royally fed up with his job and boss.

On a business trip he meets Brad Pitt (cast as Tyler Durden), an anarchist, who knows a hell lot of stuff about explosives you can make using ingredients of soap. He also manufactures soap for a living. That evening Edward finds his apartment all blown up and ends up staying with Brad in a dilapidated house (if you can call it that). The both of them start a club called the Fight Club where they take out the frustration of a dead end job among other miseries by beating the hell out of one another. This idea is spread out like wild fire and soon every city has a fight club (employees start turning up for work with black eyes and bruises).

Then Brad forms an army with the fight club members and puts his plan ’’Project Mayhem’’ into motion, aimed at bringing everyone to ground zero i.e. everyone is equal.

Edward is kept in the dark about this project and while trying to uncover it comes a twist in the tale that would rival ’’The Sixth Sense’’.

The last part (Edward and Brad fighting) does have some anomalies, but hey! whats a few glitches in an awesome movie like this.

Caution

There are some violent and bloody scenes in this movie but the plot kind of justifies the violence.

An overall brilliant thought provoking movie. ’’The things you own end up owning you’’ had me thinking all right.
