In Tyler we trust

Blood spattered face with a broken nose staring at you a bunch of blokes beating each other to pulp and then hugging each other..wait hugging each other aren’t they supposed to have just beaten the pulp out of each other..

Thats fight club for it defies all logic but you need to see it the way Tyler wants you to in order to understand the movie. So in Tyler we trust. So let’s move on.The movie needs at least two watches to fully be fully understood.Trust me even though it has a awesome twist ending its makes much more sense with that knowledge unlike a lot of other such movies.

What’s The movie about..??

David fincher does some excellent direction like his other two movies ’’se7en’’ ’’the Game’’ fight club too has that dark, gothic feel with precise editing and distored camera work never once creating a claustrophobic feel. The movie’s satire wasn’t really that violent there have more violent movies like “clockwork, apocalypse now”...but fight club celebrates the violence of spirit... Fight club captures brilliantly the malaise suffered by entire generation of people suspend in their own personal bubble, adrift in life separated from notions of passion, spontaneity, and each other.Trying to fill their emptiness with material possession expresses by the corporate american society and consumerism.

A little bit of the plot..

Edward Norton’s characters epitomises all these but in his core he feels sickened by the commonplace, decadent posing of his contemporaries (and society in general) so inturn turns to violence and rebellion to quash the numbness of his spirit.Edward nortons character Jack is just another statistic an executive living in a high rise with a wardrobe full of designer clothes and designer furnitures adorn his pad he has all that money can buy yet something is amiss in his life, emotional contact.Suffering from insomnia he visits various help groups like cancer because it’s the only place where he finds solace a place where can express his fears and hug another human being wat a loser..until enter Marla(helena bonhman carter) another poser like him visitng the same help groups upside down turns jack’s life suddenly the fulfillment and want he felt leaves him...not until he meets Tyler Durden(Bradd pitt)in an aeroplane they strike a conversation ..suddenly the movies starts to move and things happen ..Boom Bahm jack finds his apartment is on fire and here comes the subtle satire of the film in a city he has been living for so long he has none he can call for help so he calls up tyler ..they have a beer and on tylers insistence they fight with each other ..thats how fight club starts..jack moves in with tyler who lives in the dilapidated building in an industrial wasteland ...turning jacks life upside down..Tyler has a philosophy of living that is totally contrary of jacks yet we feel it’s what jack always wanted inside his heart.. I wont say any more about the story see it for urself I could never do justice to the plot ..

A Little Observation…

I think the movies also takes on the concept of male identity about how televison and advertisment shapes our notion of being a male in turn creating a whole heard of medicated sheeps in wonderland. Thus fighting was a need to express onself Men aren’t supposed to cry, feel pain, empathy, or express natural emotions. Its in the help sessions and later in a much different way in fight club is jack is allowed to express such naturalistic emotions which, in turn, subdues his counterego oops didnt mean to say that..fight club is a movie to watch not once not twice but more than that ...

’’self improvement is mastur@@tion , self destruction is the way’’..Tyler Durden..comments r welcome for further discussion
