I just finished Stephen Kingss second novel in Bill Hodges trilogy.
Finders Keepers is the sequel to Mr. Mercedes. This novel tells the story of Morris Bellamy who is an angry reader, he read the works of John Rothstein, who is this fictional prolific American writer. He had written this character Jimmy Cold and its a series of three books and Morris Bellamy was in love with these books and inspired by him but he was very disappointed with the ending of the trilogy. He one day decided that he will get revenge, so he goes to Rothsteins house and steals some money and unpublished manuscripts. But he actually ends up going to jail for some completely different crime. Many years later boy name Pete finds this hidden treasure behind his house. Im not giving you any spoilers here.
First of all the idea of this story, I actually liked that Bill Hodges wasnt as involved. We spend a lot of time with Pete so overall I would say that I dont like. I enjoyed Mr. Mercedes a lot. This book takes time to get started, a lot of time. First 100 pages just story of Petes family. I really like the idea of author writes about the author. This book never feels like a sequel its very standalone book. The character kind of overlap sometimes.
Read this only if you like Stephen King work. This is not like his previous novel. I suggest You read Mr. Mercedes first than give this book a try.
