Job hunting ..... online

Job hunting is an ongoing thing now a days. People with jobs, without jobs, with experience, without experience are all constantly looking out for jobs. Those with better jobs want even better ones and those without jobs want atleast something to get started.

well the best known way to look for jobs is to post your resume online in the popular job sites like monster.com, naukari.com (in India), hotjobs.com etc etc.

Looking for jobs in the newspaper is somewhat different from doing it online.I feel just by posting your resume blindly on the site alone is not enough.

Looking out for jobs that match your profile play an important role. Do that first in good job site.

Also click on the feature to send you similar postings in your inbox.

Embellish your resume as required.

There is no harm in viewing other resumes online and take helpful tips from them.

Make your resume flexible when you apply for different job profiles.

Some may require relocation, others may ask certifications, some may be interested in experience. Others may stress on educational background and good marks.

Whatever be the requirement, the resume must be changed accordingly.

-Highlight your academic qualifications for those asking only past records or marks.

-Write more about current job experiences if the stress is more on experience.

-Draw attention to your peoples skill , or communication skills if that is so required.

-Infact its a good strategy to have 3-4 resumes highlighting your different qualities in the same site so that as and when the requirement comes up, you may post the same.

An impressive cover letter along with the online resume makes a very good impression. It should be formal, to the point and make recruiters and companies feel like opening your resume to read it.

Following up with regular emails is a good way to accelerate Online job hunting.

if you get a personal acknowledgement from the recruiter then do not forget to write an email after a week asking the status.

If another personal response states that your resume is under an active database and that you will be notified of future openings, then be sure to send your updated resumes to the same people whenever you can.

Computer/IT people should always update online resumes upon learning a new tool or after finishing a training.

It also helps for Web developers to have a nicely formatted resume online and sending it along with the usual Word document to Employers. They can show their web design skills through their online resumes.

Internet and computers are very accessible these days.

so once you start the process of online job hunting it is best to be regular and not stop till you find your perfect Job !!

Good luck
