When a starcast reads names like Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Dimple Kapadia, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer singh(albeit a cameo only) You know you are in for a fun-ride.
Plot: The story is based in a small Goan village, and like any other small village the neighbours are often involved in each others matter’s, be it problems or joy. Deepika plays a widow to Ranveer and has a mother-in law dimple who is also shown as widow in the movie. The story revolves around Naseer trying to find the love of his life Fanny and Deepika, Dimple, Pankaj(who is bestowed by Dimple) and Arjun trying to help him out.
Naseer basically finds out only 46 years later that the letter he sent to his love Fanny then, never actually reached her and he goes down the path of looking for the truth.
Acting: The acting by all the characters in the movie is superb, some of the comedy scenes literary leave’s you in splits. But contrary to popular perception the Movie is not actually a comedy movie, but more of a satirical take on life and how small incidents do effect it. All the actors have done justice to their characters, Naseer play Fredie, a postman and plays a much more easy going character than the powerful he usually plays. Deepika plays Angie, who seems to be the only sane character in a group of nuts, but it soon turns out she is no different. Pankaj does a brilliant act true to his Image of Den pedro, Arjun does fairly okay with Savio and does do fairly well with the Goan accent. Dimple and her fake Backside, leaves you in splits more than not.
Cinematography and Screenplay: The cinematography of the movie is absolutely perfect and locations covered does make you sit up take notice, it does give you the perception of a real story unfolding, which is what the business is all about.
Music: The music of the movie though not the best, is absolutely in sync with the subject which borders on satire and emotions. The touch of Goan music in Shake your bootiya is good.
Conclusion: If you want a high-end Masala flick this weekend, Finding Fanny will disappoint you. But if you are looking for a plain entertainer with Deepika and Arjun in never-seen before sort of characters and Pankaj, Dimple and Naseer doing what they best you are in for a fantastic time with this flick. My verdict is a Light-hearted entertainer you should not miss, Go for Finding Fanny!
