Cigarettes, matches and rubberbands

...these are the tools of America’s most prolific and dangerous arsonist . This book takes a look at the mechanisms of a sharp but misguided mind and will draw in the reader even though it does tend to be a little long winded at times. Firefighter John Orr may be unlucky in love but certainly has a sixth sense for tracking criminals and finding the point of origin of fires. But then again he also has inside information and a sinister secret of which even his closest colleagues are unaware until a shocking discovery. Orr is eventually undone by his own oversights in covering his tracks and lies. Reading this book is like watching a horror movie unfold.   Some of the trial scenes and seemingly endless cast of characters do undermine the flow of the book. However, it is a good read and is just as much about the way a psychopath functions as it is about the world of fire fighting and the underlying antagonism between firemen and police arson investigators.
