It is one of the gretest book I have read .......4 men from different strata of the society....but hav only one thing common about them....the will to become the greatest prime minister of united kingdom........whole book is set on how these people work on their goals...and the finial line of the book says who is the prime minister...... the result is a real stunner....it would come as a thunderbolt of of the clear sky...... the four characters are.
CHARLES SEYMOUR........son of an earl ...member of a royal family.....
ANDREW FRASER....son of an MP ....a Scott.......
SIMON KERSLAKE.....Person of middle class family.....the one who rejects a college in cambridge sayin ...’’primeministers don’t study here’’ during his teenage....
RAYMOND GOULD.......son of butcher in Leeds....thin lean person...who realized his dream when he gave a speech about ...’’what i’ll do when I become the priminster’’...the speech which shook every one when he was in his sixth grade......
The author first gives the family background....then he moves on to their studies... then he moves 25 years later....all the 4 becomming MP’s.....then he narrates their back bench experiences....then he narrates how they become ministers....their front bench experiences are narrated superbly.....then how the 4 candidates for PM get reduced to 2...then the elections ....
Then finally who the prime minister is.... real life characters like MargretThatcher...Prince charles...etc are used effectively ..to make you believe as if it is a true story rather than a novel.... Jeffrey Archer himself being a MP once ...has effectively brought out the happenings in british parliment....the questioning sessions are beautifully penned....... so just read the book to check which one of the four reaches 10.Downing street.
