~*if you've got it, flaunt it!*~

Whilst walking down one of those many metropolitan streets, you may often feel the urge to enter some of those designer shops which look so utterly posh and striking(including the fact that they provide free air-conditioning against the sultry weather outside). But you’re strapped for cash and look it.

How do you get in? Well you could just don on a pair of flashy looking glasses (don’t wear them. No one actually wears the things. Just tilt them up at a 54 degree angle on your forehead…), stick your nose up in the air, and walk dramatically, acting as if you don’t care about anything apart from yourself *(unless you happen to be Miss Kapoor; in which case you’d be a natural) *. Or you could walk in the way you are. After all, we do live in a free world, in a democratic nation. Just don’t forget to recite the Constitution of India *(-feel free to fill in a name of your country) * if the security guards grab you by the shoulders.

After waltzing in and ignoring the weird looks being shot your way *(you don’t care, remember?) * you actually realise that the shop has some really kool *(the k spelling! Must be the Ekta’s aatma…) * clothes in it. You admiringly pick up a turquoise number, before your eyes land on the tag dangling from it…and exclaim “Haila!” No, you are not paying a tribute to the dimpled and eleven-fingered, but are shocked at the sight of those zeros at the end of the figures – a number which is commonly known as the “price”!

Designer products are ver ver expensive *(as if you didn’t already know this) *. But you know what they say *(who are “they” by the way?) * – if you’ve got it, flaunt it! And if you don’t have it, you can still pretend you do *(its wot the chor bazaar is for;)

Now that India’s flooded with all the international brands, designer clothes are definitely worth taking a glance at. And, if not anything else, they’re perfect for making a fashion statement, complete with the confidence.

Paanch matlab… my favourite 5:

Chanel

Coco Chanel, the woman herself was an icon in the fashion industry and a major trend-setter – she made clothes that made a huge impact on the way women dressed, giving them freedom from the conventional society. I’ll stop with the bio-data, otherwise I’ll go on forever *(I would have written a review on her) *!

And although she is no more, her name still lives on(now run by Karl Lagerfeld). Chanel produces clothes which are chic and elegant, especially the evening wear. And even when their latest summer collection featured the softest of colours(whites, pinks, creams, browns), they still managed to maintain their special place on prime pages of Vogue.

The label also produces perfumes. Chanel No. 5 was the most popular perfume in the world at one point, and made Coco a millionairess. The plain, simple square bottle with a label was described as an “abstract” perfume, and it created a revolution by pushing the floral scents to one side!

Versace

To be honest I only checked this one out after Lakme Fashion House *(aakhir dekhna to padha ki Shahzad kis ghar mein vida hua hai;) *. But the summer collection 05 was excellent. Comprising of brighter colours, swishy knee-length skirts and glitz; capturing all the feelings of the hot season. But best of all were the accessories – the charm belts, studded purses, stilettos and laced-up wedges. Think Italian *(Pizzas, pasta and Saif’s new beloved) *, think Versace!

Armani

“Elegance doesn’t mean being noticed, it means being remembered.”- Georgio Armani

Elegance is the word to describe the works of Georgio and Emporio Armani. The clothes are full of flowing material. I really like the sunglasses too. The cosmetics range is full of vibrant eye-shadow – No.1 Armani Blue is a personal fave. Looks like Italian designers have taste!

Ritu Kumar

Now I’ve taken you to Paris and Milan its time to come back home:) Compared to the international ramps, India’s fashion shows look like a rainbow of colours. But no designer can reflect Indian culture as well as Ritu Kumar. Her clothes define fusion; they have the perfect blend of east and west. The detailing on the clothes are excellent, so are the colour and fabric combinations. LIFW 05 saw her aesthetic skirts or varied lengths, tops, chudidars, and saris. And we’ve just started to love her even more since she’s decided to make her clothes “pocket-friendly” …

Manish Malhotra

Don’t tell me you didn’t see this one coming *(think I’ve said enough about him already) *! He rules Bollywood fashion and designs for most celebrities, but not all customers have to be star-studded(just very rich)! You can catch a taster of his clothes in all films full of glamour, and those of Karan Johar.

I could go on.but decided to stick to the title! Oh and btw, rating and commenting on reviews is definitely the latest fashion;)
