Many people before me has written that music is this and music is that. So I don’t want to repeat all that again. I’m just giving my list of 5 all-time favourite female singers. The list is in order of my liking. I know many of you people won’t like the list but this is my choice. I don’t intend to hurt anybody.

- Asha Bhonsle: Though many think that her elder sister Lata is more of a melody queen, I rate Asha above her. Lata can sing only melodious songs. If the song is a little seductive or young, she fails to deliver. But, this is not the case with Asha. She can sing everything right from classical to ghazals to cabaret with equal ease. If we see statistically her ratio of hit songs to no. of songs sung is much better than Lata.
2.Lata Mangeshkar: The above statements are not to put down Lata. The fact is that she is still the reigning queen of the music industry. She has enthralled 5 decades of music listeners and still going strong. Way to go.
3.Kavita Krishnamootry: No, I don’t call her by Subhramanium. I like her more than Alka Yagnik. She has a very strong classical background and sings beautifully. Though she is not singing as many songs as before, she still has a lot of talent in her.
4.Sunidhi Chauhan: I’ve been listening to her since I was in std. 5 in Meri Awaaz Suno. I’ve seen her grow and I know what stuff she’s made of. She will fight all odds to become successful and she has done that. She does not have any formal training and to sing so beautifully without any training is just superb.
5.Alka Yagnik: I don’t intend to leave her out of my list. She is the most popular singer in recent times and has many hits to her credit. Though I find her voice to be a little stereo-typed, many of her songs still remain my favourites.

This list is based completely on my likes and dislikes. I’ve refered to no boxoffice charts or TV shows to write this review. I had just put down my thought. If you don’t like this you are most welcome to write your own review. I’ll be more than happy to read it.
