Best of RGV!

As a director Ram Gopal Verma is a talent to reckon with. After successfully directing a thriller in initial phase of his career he tackled a different genre all together be it comedy, romance and again emerged triumph for the most. Verma’s forte is no doubt intense sequences and the performance he extracts from his cast is just unbelievable. Off late he is doing wonders producing some amazing films. Here are my fav films of my fav director of all time!

5.Ek Hasina Thi

EK HASINA THI is one of the BEST THRILLERS to come out of Bollywood in recent years. Not only that the film has Urmila delivering a performance which will be talked about for many years to come. The film never slackens in pace and never does it ever lose its grip over the audience. Above all director Sriram Raghvan never takes the audiences intelligent for granted which is what most Bollywood thrillers do.

This film on the other hand leaves the audience constantly thinking. Yes-EK HASINA THI has all the common traits of a RGV film including being a fast paced thriller, being intense and gritty, having dark and fascainating characters and being technically superlative...but Raghvan creates a niche of his own and gives the thriller genre another dimension which hasn’t quiet been touched in Bollywood before.

4.SATYA

Dark, depressing yet fulfilling experience-that’s SATYA. The film is nothing but a trendsetter. RGV film always feature excellent performances from their entire supporting cast and SATYA is no exception! Varma manages to bring to the screen a list of character actors/villians from mainly B-Grade cinema who either never quiet made it or never got their due. In a sense the film is a throwback to all these actors... Manoj Bajpayee as Vikhu Matre deserves all the award he got !Truly best RGV till date.

3.AB TAK 56

A film about ’’killer’’ encounter cop-AB TAK CHAPPAN is the finest product to come out of the Varma camp. The film is superbly directed and backed by some mindblowing performances. The film scores in every department. The films real trump card is no doubt the three dimensional characters, their interplay with one another and the dialogues by Sandeep Shrivastav again which is the very backbone of the film. The film is laced with expletives and an abundance of violence and gore which gel perfectly with the theme of the movie and gives the film that extra edge which lacks in most other cop films.

Nana Patekar delivers an Award Worthy performance and one that will be mentioned when the name Nana Patekar is mentioned.

2SHIVA

Shiva is about Nagarjuna and his fight against a corrupt society? Though Shiva talks about one man fight against system, it works like a masala fare and is entertaing to the core! The film is tailormade for Nagarjuna whose delivery, getup, and the intensity of hiseyes are simply amazing.

1.COMPANY

As a director Ram Gopal Varma deserves a standing ovation. He yet again breaks the norms of Indian cinema and delivers what could be called a masterpiece in todays times. Merging fact with fiction Varma introduces and throws the viewer into a world that is very much part of everyday but one that the common man wouldn’t see. The manner in which he directs the film is extremely realistic but he has managed to direct it in a entertaining manner which doesn’t allow the film to become a documentary. His narrative style takes a leaf out of the great Martin Scorceses book as he uses a voiceover to introduce us to the characters and move the film along. The film has the look and feel of a epic. Its my best RGV FLICK till date!

PS- No SARKAR in the list. It was quite a disappointing saga!

GOOD BYE...
