As far as I believe....

I am an avid listener of rock music for the past 8 years and I can say that I have listened enough to write this review.

Top five guitarists of all time as per my thinking are:

  1. Eric Clapton:

You think of Guitar and a picture comes to your mind. A bearded man whole heartedly playing his 6 string. Yes the man is Eric Clapton. I call him the forefather of Guitar. After playing rock-n-roll kinda stuff in as many as five bands - The Roosters, Casey Jones, The Engineers, The Yardbirds and Cream, Clapton decided to act as a solo. You can feel his passion for guitar in songs like Layla, Wonderful Tonight and Tears in Heaven. It is not how he plays the guitar, but it is his passion for guitar which puts him in my list.

  1. Mark Knopfler:

Who can forget the classic piece of guitar at the climax of Sultans of Swing. The sayings Rock-n-roll greats Dire Straits came into picture only because of the guitar playing capabilities of this man. Songs worth mentioning are: Sultans of Swing, Brothers in Arms, Ticket to Heaven, Calling Elvis, Sailing to Philadelphia, Last Laugh and the list continues.

  1. Kirk Hammet

One fourth of the metal factory Metallica, Kirk Hammet has proved that he can create the same wonders as that of Dave Mustaine and even better. This power packed guitarist loves speed and can easily be seen in songs like Battery, Master of Puppets, One, Holier than Thou. I believe his presence in top 5 is not surprising.

  1. Agnus Young

Arguably one of the best guitarists of all time. The way he created rhythms in AC DC Songs is simply awesome. Listen to the songs like Thunderstruck, Hells Bells, Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Girls got rhythm and you will keep them humming.

  1. Joe Satriani

If there is guitar, there is Joe Satriani. What can I write about this legend. His music speak of it. Listen to it and be merry.

The order specified above is just an order to differentiate betwwen the guitarists. It has nothing to do with the rankings.
